How would this work in MLB?

Let's say the cubs had a 1.5 game lead over the astros in the central and the cubs already clinched the division and before the season ended the astros took first who would win the division. the cubs or astros? How would this work in MLB?
if the cubs already clinched the division, then there's no way the astros could win itHow would this work in MLB?
Evidently you don't understand the meaning of the word clinch.

To clinch means that there is no way possible for another team to beat you in the race. So it would be impossible for a team to end up in first place after another team had clinched. If the Astros had overtaken the Cubs, the Cubs would have never actually clinched it.
Clinching a division means no one in 2 place or below can take the division back from you.

If the Cubs clinched it, then there is no way the Astros could win it.
