Modeling...How would this work?

1: how do you become a kids model for a store like Nordstrom, Abercrombie,etc...

2: Would they pay you money or is it just a free thing?

3: do you have to live in a certain state to become one of their models?

4: does anyone know the criteria to become a model if your twelve years old, 5 ft, and weight about 80-85 lbs?Modeling...How would this work?
Unfortunately at 12 it's very difficult to start a modeling career. You are too old for child modeling - normally you are signed before you are 8, and too young for the women's division - usually age 13-14.

You do need to be with a major agency to work with companies like Nordstroms. The top childrens agencies are Ford and Wilhelmina.Modeling...How would this work?
If you're interested in doing something like that, you first need to become a client of a modelling agency. You also need a portfolio assembled by a professional photographer. Through them you participate in go-see's, which are like casting calls for models.

They would of course pay you money, provided they picked you from thousands of other girls your age who were also hoping to be hired for the job.

Also, at 12 years old it's doubtful they would hire you for A%26amp;F shoots, etc., their models are much older than that. But they could choose you for flyers/catalogues for department stores and stuff.
1. for abercrombie you have to work there to be a model. and you have to be 18 or something. so no kids. nordstrom's and stuff, just like submit your photos to an agency and if they are interested they will get back to you. but start with like some local stuff, just to see if you like it and if you're good at it and everything before you try to go into bigger stuff.

2. they'll pay you. but keep in mind, if you get a job, and they ask you to pay for ANYTHING, its a scam.

3. not really

4. since you seem interested in doing more print stuff than runway stuff... you have to be pretty. and also you have to look young, they dont want a 12 year old who looks 16 to be modeling for their kids section
You cant just 'become' a model for big companies. It takes work.

They would pay you.

No, but it would help to live close to major cities such as LA or NYC b/c there are bigger agencies

I used to model at twelve, and there is not much work available;unless you look younger than twelve(they hire older to play younger sometimes due to maturity). They usually hesitate to hire children at this age due to puberty and such.
First, you probably need to be accepted by a modeling agency. Stores, and magazines get their models from agencies. yes, they would pay you. you probably don't have to live in a certain state to be a model. criteria all depends on who is looking for a model. different people want different models, and model types.

Hope this helps!
You gotta have portfolio some picks of you dressed in many different outfits and styles, Don`t get ripped off by the thousands of people out there just go to a photographer and tell them what you want and then contact a agent that represents child models and don`t pay them anything! They will try and rip you also.

Tell them if they get you work they can have 20% or 15% whatever their rate is.

Take some classes on modeling and don`t let them rip you off because they will and fast stay away from John Robert Powers modeling and do your research.

Good Luck!

Everyone is in the business to make money and it is cut throat!!!
Just talk to your local agencies. Be sure it is an agency not a ';modeling school';.
You start by contacting and being accepted by a modeling agency. They will help with the rest. That's what they do.

Sorry to say so, but.. 12 is pretty late to start out in 'kids modeling'. Others in your age range have a pretty good start by then. You may be at a disadvantage in that respect. Be prepared to work very hard if you are serious in this pursuit.
i agree it's a bit late.
