I need help with this algebrae problem - my 7th grade daughter can't understand how to do it, and neither do i!Please tell me how to work this problem: 5p +9C = p, for C?
5p + 9C = p
9C = p - 5p
9C = -4p
C = -(4p)/9Please tell me how to work this problem: 5p +9C = p, for C?
You would want to solve for C.
To do that you start with the original:
5p + 9C = p
Then you subtract 5p from either side.
5p - 5p + 9C = p - 5p
9C = -4p
Then divide by 9.
C = -4/9p
I assume that is what the teacher wants your daughter to do. In this kind of equation you arent looking for a numerical value. I believe that is what you are suppose to do.
5p + 9c = p
9c = p - 5p
9c = -4p
c = -4p/9
subtract pfrom both sides of equations to get
4p+9c=0
subtract 4p from both sides
9c=-4p
divide by 9
c=-4p/9
5p + 9C = p
9C = p - 5p
9C = -4p
C = -4p/9
5p + 9c = p
-5p -5p subtract 5 from both sides
9c = -4p divide by nine both sides
/9 /9
c = -4/9 p %26lt;----------answer
