Would this audio setup work for surround sound?

I want to have a blu ray player via hdmi connected to my hdtv hdmi in. Then I have the TV's audio out via component cables going to my integrated dvd/receiver audio in. With the receiver on and of course the right input selected on tv that should allow whatever I'm viewing to be in 5.1. By the way my audio system is 5.1. Would this work?Would this audio setup work for surround sound?
Ah, another HTIB problem. It would be nice if people who have yet to buy an HTIB would learn from the experience of those who have. That way there would be far fewer people being forced to deal with their limitations.

1.) Component cables are for video, not audio. If you mean RCA audio cables, then you're only sending 2 channels of audio.

2.) TVs usually can't move surround sound. This isn't always the case, but it often is. What this means is it doesn't matter what you run from the TV to the surround sound system, you'll never get more than 2 channels.

If your TV doesn't ';move'; surround sound what you want to do is to send the audio directly to the receiver from the Blu-ray player via optical or digital coax.Would this audio setup work for surround sound?
Connect optical cable directly from Blu-ray player to receiver, not from TV to receiver.
rca cables do not transmit surround sound. You will need to use the optical out on your tv for this.
